Too~Good~Too~Be~True? Part 23, Backstage Madness

When we reached all the guys we were all introduced to one another and headed back to Kill Hannah’s dressing room. We all somehow managed to cram in there. A couple minutes passed and Ashley came in with a mad look on her face and was dragging Matt by the hand into the room,

“Tia Ana! Uncle Matt won’t play hide-and-seek with me!” everyone started laughing,

“Come here. I’ll play with you.” I picked her up and stared at all the people in the room who were giving me blank stares,

“I’m not playing by myself, GET UP!” everyone sprang from their seat and Adam and Gerard simultaneously yelled,

“Not it!”

Everyone else said it but Mat Devine and Frank Lero were the last ones so they were it. We all ran out of the room and headed in different directions. I was holding Adam’s hand and Anthony was giving Ashley a piggy back ride right behind us. We made our way to the stage and the crew had set up My Chemical Romance’s instruments for sound check. Anthony put Ashley down and went to Bob’s drum set. He started playing a random song and I ran over and grabbed Ray’s guitar, Adam picked up Mikey’s bass and we were all playing random notes until I looked at Anthony and mouthed something to him. He stopped playing and so did me and Adam,

“Oh hell yea!”

He started playing the intro to “House of Wolves” I looked at Adam while I joined in with Anthony and saw him laughing and running up to the microphone while playing bass. Adam took over on the vocals and Ashley became our stage dancer. Adam grabbed the microphone stand and ran over to Anthony and signaled for me to come. The three of us were singing the chorus at the top of our lungs into the single microphone.

Pretty soon everyone had abandoned the game of hide-and-seek and were in front of the stage or on it. Towards the middle of the song Elle and Gerard came running through the entrance of the arena and were running towards the stage. She jumped on stage and actually took the bass away from Adam and picked up from where he left off. Gee and Adam were singing vocals while Ray chased me around stage yelling at me to give him back his guitar, I somehow managed to keep playing. At the end of the song Elle immediately went into the song “Teenagers” and I joined her on guitar. We were both rocking out the lyrics on one mike until Gee took over. The whole stage crew or most of it had appeared and there was not one person standing there that did not sing,

“Teenagers scare the living shit out of me!” at the top of their lungs.


After My Chem, Kill Hannah, Taking Back, and American Rejects finished their sound checks Elle, Kaitlyn, Adam, Tyson, Gee, and me were in Taking Back Sunday’s dressing room. We were all laughing after we finished drawing on Jon Radtke’s face after he fell asleep on the couch. Tyson had his arm around Kaity but asked Elle and I,

“Where’d you guys learn how to play like that?” Adam and Gee were now curious and gave us questioning looks. Elle said,

“When I was maybe 13 my sister’s boyfriend, or now her fiancé taught me how to play bass. I learned guitar and drums a few years after that.” Adam looked at me,

“When my brother went through his rocker phase, he taught me how to play guitar. I learned drums and then bass and piano.”

Just then Jon woke up. We all tried our best not to laugh. He stretched and walked out of the room. A few seconds later we heard him screaming down the hallway. The concert was set to begin in 30 minutes and he was running around the arena with marker, sharpie, lipstick, and eyeliner all over his face!


During the concert we watched all the performances from backstage. Towards the end of Kill Hannah’s set I decided to get a better view. Kaity was in the dressing room with Tyson doing god knows what and Elle and Anthony were watching the concert with me. We somehow managed to sneak into the crowd without anyone seeing. We were in the mosh pit and rocking out to my favorite Kill Hannah song “Unwanted”.


~*Adam’s point of view*~

Damn! We were about to go perform and Ana and Elle are nowhere to be found! I was running in and out of all the dressing rooms and saw Gerard running down th hall,

“Gerard!” he turned around”Have you seen Ana, I can’t find her anywhere?” he looked just as confused as me,

“No! Dude have you seen Elle?”  I tried to calm down as one of the crew members yelled,

“Adam! Two minutes!” I looked at Gerard who was trying to call Elle but only got voice mail,

“They were watching Mat and everyone perform weren’t they?” he nodded and we ran to the side the stage to look for them.  Mat was first off stage and Gerard started asking,

“Hey, did you see where Elle and Ana went?” Mat turned to Jon and yelled,

“I told you! Didn’t I tell you!!” Jon walked away and Mat ran after him. I yelled after him,

“So did you see them?!” he ran back over to me and said,

“Go perform. Everything will be fine.”  I was going to go after him but Fred was pushing me on stage.
